What goes into each doll? Janet sculpts each doll's face out of clay. Both the hands and the faces are made of clay that she then paints and varnishes for preservation purposes. The bodies are made from stuffed cotton material that has been painted, sanded, and repainted to give them the feeling of leather. The arms are connected with buttons and the knees are bead jointed so that sitting the dolls in a chair is a breeze. Deanna Hogan first taught Janet how to sew a doll's body and it is an altered Deanna Hogan doll body pattern that Janet uses for some of her dolls. The dolls are anywhere from 22" to 27" in length. The puppets have hands and faces made of clay. The bodies are sewn to fit most hand sizes. Please contact Janet for larger images, exact sizes, and pricing.
